Sharon Osbourne dropped by homelessness charity after Tommy Robinson support: “Counter to our values”

Sharon Osbourne has been dropped by the homelessness charity Centrepoint after her public endorsement of a rally organised by right-wing activist Tommy Robinson.

Osbourne showed her support for Robinson in a comment a recent social media video, uploaded to Instagram by GauciReports, where Robinson said that “May 16th is the date that Britain rises” and “the date that the world hears our roar”, before adding, “We have had enough of migration, enough of mass immigration, we’ve had enough of oppression from a tyrannical government.”

“See you at the march,” Osbourne commented. Notably, the video also included a series of incendiary comments about foreign nationals who arrive in the UK from Afghanistan on small boats being rapists.

Now, Centrepoint has distanced itself from the television personality, who they said they have “no plans to work together in the future” in light of her political leanings.

As per The Independent, a spokesperson for Centrepoint clarified the charity’s stance, saying: “Political activity like this runs counter to our values and our long history of supporting young people regardless of their background, religion or ethnicity.”

They added: “If we want young people to thrive in this country, then we need to ensure our society continues to allow them to live without fear and to access the opportunities they need to start education or work and leave homelessness behind.”

Osbourne supported the Omaze campaign through Centrepoint, a fundraising initiative that raised money by selling entries to a draw to win a £5 million home, as well as £250,000 in cash.

“While Sharon supported us on this campaign, for which she was referred to as an ambassador, as is standard for Omaze prize draws, she is not an official ongoing ambassador of Centrepoint and we have no plans to work together in the future,” Centrepoint clarified.

This isn’t the only backlash the wife of late Ozzy Osbourne has faced for her political leaning; hip-hop trio Kneecap said “Fuck @MrsSOsbourne” when sharing the news of her endorsement of Robinson online. Osbourne had previously criticised their Coachella set last year, which they used to show support for Gaza.

Robinson’s previous ‘Unite The Kingdom’ march took place last September. It drew over 100,000 members of the public, with speeches from Robinson and Elon Musk.
