Shania Twain and Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme release country rock track
Shania Twain continues to defy expectations as she taps up Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme for her latest single, ‘Faded Blue Jeans’.
The track hails from Little Miss Twain, her seventh LP set for release on July 24th via Republic Nashville.
‘Faded Blue Jeans’, the final single released into the world before the full album, sees the pair sing in harmony on the chorus: “Faded blue jeans, big holes in the knees, rolling in the grass in ’em, trying to get your hands in ’em,” they belt together.
Announcing the song on Instagram, Twain shared, “This is a song about young love, or is it lust? I’m never without a trusty pair of faded blue jeans… they’ve been with me through just about every chapter of my life.”
An official press release reveals that it was solely Twain behind the pen; the song, driven by “gritty production and infectious energy, channels the rebellious rock and blues that shaped Twain’s youth while celebrating the freedom, confidence, and emotion of growing up.”
Twain’s rock leanings were cemented recently on the BBC music show Later… With Jools Holland, after she admitted to being a huge fan of the microtonal math-rock duo, Angine de Poitrine.
Despite her global popularity, Twain recently performed a small, intimate show for a room of 200 at London’s Shacklewell Arms, in a bid to warm up for her support set for Harry Styles’ record-breaking 12-night run at Wembley Stadium, beginning on June 12th and concluding on July 4th.
Elsewhere, Twain is officially getting the biopic treatment, after it was recently announced that Sony Pictures reached an agreement with director and writer Leah McKendrick.
As for Homme, fans can catch the Queens of the Stone Age on tour with Foo Fighters throughout their North American summer stadium tour, which kicks off in early August.
