Sebastian Stan lined up for ‘The Batman 2’ role
Sebastian Stan is reportedly being lined up for a major role in The Batman 2.
The upcoming film will see Robert Pattinson return to the titular role for Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated sequel, which is set for release on October 1st, 2027.
Per Deadline, Stan, who has portrayed the Winter Soldier in a number of Marvel Cinematic Universe projects over the last decade, is currently locked in talks regarding The Batman 2. However, nothing is currently signed.
Last year, Stan won acclaim for his performances in A Different Man and The Apprentice, the latter of which earned him a ‘Best Actor’ nomination at the Oscars for his portrayal of Donald Trump.
The reports of Stan’s involvement in The Batman 2 comes after it emerged Scarlett Johansson was close to signing up for the project in December.
It’s also suggested that Johansson’s character would be one of the new roles that Reeves has created for the upcoming film.
While details regarding the plot remain thin on the ground, Colin Farrell, who will reprise his role as The Penguin, recently provided a glowing review of Reeves’ script.
He shared: “I had many thoughts to share with Matt about the script. I really do think it’s a masterwork. Kind of a contemporary genre masterwork. It’s so brilliant and Robert [Pattinson] has got such a lovely journey to go on and take the audience through.”
Farrell continued, “It’s dense, it’s really really intelligent, it’s so deep and detailed. I’m saying too much.”
The Irish actor also said that the script is “really extraordinary” and he believes it will “make an extraordinary film.”
