Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs to appeal conviction and prison sentence
Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs was hit with a 50-month sentence earlier this month, but has filed to appeal Judge Arun Subramanian’s decision.
Combs filed documents in Manhattan federal court on October 20th, listing Alexandra A.E. Shapiro as his appellate attorney.
According to Rolling Stone, the case will be heard by a three-judge panel, with more details regarding the rapper’s arguments expected to be revealed in the next few weeks.
On October 3rd, Combs was sentenced to four years and two months in prison, having already spent a year behind bars following his October 2024 arrest.
He was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, but was acquitted of the more serious counts of sex trafficking and racketeering, which carried a potential life sentence.
It’s no secret that Combs was planning to appeal his sentence. Shortly after it was announced, his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, stated, “Both the guidelines calculation and the sentence took account of conduct for which Mr Combs was acquitted by a jury. We contend this amounts to legal error.”
Combs is currently detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. He recently requested to serve his sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey.
However, the judge denied his request, but agreed he should be incarcerated in the same state and at a facility with a substance abuse programme.
“The court will recommend a facility in the geographic location of the defence’s choosing, but not the specific facility, which is determined by the Bureau of Prisons,” he wrote.
