Scorpions postpone Las Vegas residency due to Mikkey Dee’s health issues

Scorpions have announced they will be postponing their upcoming Las Vegas residency to allow their drummer, Mikkey Dee, to recover from illness. The residency will mark the 60th year anniversary of the band.

Dee, who previously drummed for Motöhead until Lemmy passed away in 2015, revealed on January 2nd, 2025, that he was recently hospitalised with sepsis. It is a severe blood infection; it results from the body overreacting to an infection and can potentially be life-threatening.

Dee confirmed that he was close to death at one point and had to undergo multiple surgeries. He also said that despite the health scares, he was back home and recovering. He found out about the infection after spraining his ankle in December 2024.

“It was surgery right away, the first of three,” he wrote, “They cut away what was dead and infected and badly infested. It was not a good journey I was on… Another day and I’d be playing drums with Lemmy in heaven. I can say that.”

Scorpions took to social media to confirm that they would have to postpone their Las Vegas residency due to Dee’s recent health scare. While he is in recovery, they said that he needed a bit more time to recover.

“We regret to inform you that due to Mikkey Dee’s ongoing recovery from his recent hospitalisation, we have made the decision to postpone our Coming Home to Las Vegas Residency to August 2025,” they wrote, “The health and well-being of our brother is of the utmost importance. We wish Mikkey a full and speedy recovery and look forward to rocking with you all again soon!”

Despite the residency being moved back, the band is still due to go on tour in March. They will perform in Mexico City and embark on a set of dates across South America. Scorpions will also tour Europe in June and July before making their way to Las Vegas to honour the postponed dates.
