Ryan Reynolds “proud” of Blake Lively amid trial against Justin Baldoni: “People have no idea what’s really going on”

Ryan Reynolds has shown support for his wife, Blake Lively, amid the ongoing legal feud between Lively and her former It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni.

Reynolds appeared on Willie Geist’s show, Sunday Sitdown Live, to chat about his current career moment, including the rise of his football club, Wrexham AFC, and his approaching 50th birthday.

The conversation, which was recorded on April 7th in front of a live audience, eventually landed the current legal feud between Baldoni and Lively, whom he married in 2012.

“You and Blake, for the last year and half, have gone through this very public legal proceeding,” Geist said. “How have you guys managed that as a family?”

Reynolds began, “You really see kind of the illusion behind so much of this stuff, you know? Digital life versus real life.”

He went on, “I’ll just say, I’ve never in my life been more proud of my wife. People have no idea what’s really going on, you know?”

The Deadpool actor added, “And I’ve just never in my life been more proud of someone with that level of integrity that brings that with them and carries that with them in everything that they do.”

The complicated case stretches back to 2024, when Lively sued Baldoni for harassment and accused him of running a smear campaign on the set of It Ends With Us.

In retaliation, in January 2025, Baldoni filed a $400 million lawsuit against Reynolds and Lively, which alleged that the pair committed civil extortion, defamation, and invasion of privacy against him. The claim was thrown out in June.

In the latest update, ten of the 13 allegations made by Lively against Baldoni, including harassment and defamation allegations, were all dismissed; the other claims will still be heard in court as the case progresses.

The civil trial is set to take place in New York on May 18th.
