Watch Ryan Gosling star in the first trailer for ‘The Fall Guy’
Universal have premiered the trailer for the upcoming action comedy The Fall Guy, starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt.
A modern adaptation of the 1980s TV series, featuring Lee Majors, the movie is set to hit theatres on May 3rd, following its world premiere next month as the centrepiece at SXSW in Austin, Texas. During the Super Bowl on February 11th, audiences were treated to the trailer featuring Gosling and Taylor Swift’s popular song ‘All Too Well’.
The Fall Guy revolves around Ryan Gosling’s character, Colt Seavers, a seasoned stuntman who has taken a hiatus from the industry to focus on his physical and mental well-being.
However, his peaceful break is interrupted when he is called back into action after the disappearance of the lead actor in a hit movie directed by his ex-partner, Jody Moreno, portrayed by Emily Blunt.
Joining Gosling and Blunt in the cast are Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Winston Duke, Stephanie Hsu, Hannah Waddingham, and Teresa Palmer. Directed by David Leitch and written by Drew Pearce, the movie marks a reunion for the duo following their collaboration on Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw in 2019.
Leitch was once a stuntman, therefore the movie resonates on a personal level for him. “I was excited to make a movie that portrayed the lives of stunt people,” he told the audience at CinemaCon last year when first mentioning the movie. “It’s very dear to me.”
Meanwhile, Gosling, who is nominated for ‘Best Actor in a Supporting Role’ at the Academy Awards for Barbie, recently expressed his disappointment at Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie being ignored in their respective categories.
Gosling said: “There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film/ No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit, and genius.”
