Rush postpone two tour shows due to Geddy Lee suffering from illness
Rush have postponed two dates in Fort Worth, Texas, due to Geddy Lee suffering from illness.
The legendary prog-rock band’s ongoing 50 Something Tour, which kicked off in Los Angeles at the Kia Forum on June 7th, is currently stopped at the Dickies Arena.
However, hours before the doors were due to open for their show on June 30th, they confirmed that the concert, as well as their show at the same venue on July 2nd, would now take place on July 11th and July 13th, respectively.
In a statement, Rush shared, “We are deeply sorry to share that we must reschedule our June 30 and July 2 shows.”
They then explained that Lee has been diagnosed with laryngitis and bronchitis, before adding, “After being evaluated by his doctors, he has been advised that he needs additional time to rest and recover before returning to the stage.”
Rush’s statement continued, “This is incredibly disappointing for all of us. We know many of you have made travel plans and have been counting down the days to these shows. Please know this decision was not made lightly.”
The ‘2112’ band then noted, “After more than 50 years of touring, we’ve always believed that if we’re going to step on stage, we owe you the very best performance we can give—and right now, that simply isn’t possible.”
Fans with tickets for the affected shows will have them honoured for their respective new date or be able to secure a refund from their point of purchase.
Notably, their show that was due to take place on July 2nd had already been rescheduled once and was originally set to see them perform at the Dickies Arena on June 24th.
The first postponement was “due to unforeseen travel and border-related delays impacting our touring production following our recent Mexico City tour dates,” according to Rush.
Rush’s North American dates is due to keep them on the road until September with residencies lined up in cities such as Toronto, New York, Chicago, Detroit, Montreal, Boston, Cleveland, San Jose, Seattle, Denver, Tampa, Atlanta, and Edmonton.
They will then keep the good times rolling throughout 2027 as they take the Rush tour international, with visits lined up to Argentina, Brazil, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, Poland, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland.
