Rush add 17 new cities to reunion tour after being “blown away” by demand
Rush have added 17 new dates across the United States and Canada to their reunion tour.
They initially announced a run of dates on October 6th. Following incredible demand, this was then extended two days later with additional venues at the same venues in Los Angeles, Fort Worth, Chicago, New York, Toronto and Cleveland.
Now, the run of shows has grown even further with new stops announced in Philadelphia, Detroit, Montreal, Boston, San Antonio, Denver, Seattle, San Jose, Washington, Uncasville, Hollywood (Florida), Tampa, Washington, Charlotte, Atlanta, Glendale, Edmonton, and Vancouver.
Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson announced the news in a new video message, telling fans, “Wow! We are blown away by the response to the announcement that we made a few weeks ago that we’re going back out on tour. And I cannot tell you how surprising and overwhelmed we are.”
They also thanked fans for how they have embraced their new drummer, Anika Nilles, sharing, “And also the way you guys have welcomed Anika Nilles into the Rush family has been very heartwarming. I know she’s very appreciative of that and we’re even more excited to get back on stage with her and go through the plethora of songs that we’re planning.”
Nilles, who previously played with the Jeff Beck Group, has previously spoken about the warm reception she has received from the fanbase, posting on Instagram, “The past few days have been quite overwhelming. I’m sure many of you feel the same. I want to take a moment to sincerely thank Geddy and Alex for their trust and for welcoming me on this incredible new journey with Rush.”
The reunion tour was given the seal of approval from the family of their late former drummer Neil Peart, who died in 2020. Carrie Nuttall-Peart and Olivia Peart, his widow and daughter, said in a joint statement, “We are thrilled to support the Fifty Something tour, celebrating a band whose music has resonated and inspired fans for generations, and to honour Neil’s extraordinary legacy as both a drummer and lyricist.”
Pre-sale for the new dates is set to begin on October 24th at 12pm local time ahead of general sale on October 27th at 12pm local time.
