Rush extend reunion tour with new dates

Prog-rock pioneers Rush have announced new dates for their forthcoming reunion tour in 2026.

On October 6th, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson confirmed they would be returning as Rush once again, more than a decade after they last toured together. They also revealed that Anika Nilles would be on drumming duties following the death of Neil Peart in 2020.

The tour, titled Fifty Something, will take Rush across arenas in North America, beginning in Los Angeles on June 7th at the KIA Forum. They will also play in Mexico City, Fort Worth, Chicago, New York, Toronto and Cleveland.

Initially, they were due to perform two dates at the KIA Forum in Los Angeles, which has now been extended to four. Rush have also added a further two dates at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, bringing their number of shows in Texas to four.

Additionally, Rush were scheduled to play two dates at Madison Square Garden in New York, the United Center in Chicago, and the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, which have nowall been extended to include four dates in each location.

Lastly, they have confirmed details of a second date at the Rocket Arena in Cleveland, which will bring the tour to a close on September 19th. The only city not to receive an extra date is Mexico City.

The reunion tour has been given the seal of approval from the Peart family. Carrie Nuttall-Peart and Olivia Peart, the late drummer’s widow and daughter, said in a joint statement, “We are thrilled to support the Fifty Something tour, celebrating a band whose music has resonated and inspired fans for generations, and to honour Neil’s extraordinary legacy as both a drummer and lyricist.”

Meanwhile, at an invite-only event at the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame’s Foster Theater in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 6th, Lee explained it was a “very difficult decision on many levels” to reunite before describing the passing of Peart as “devastating”. He added, “I mean, this is a relatively recent decision. And I would say it was kind of out of the question for the longest time because of those circumstances. And how do you replace someone who’s irreplaceable?”

Lifeson and Lee continued to hang out and jam, yet playing Rush songs together was never on the agenda. However, one day, that changed, and the reunion began to look possible. “We were laughing so hard and we were enjoying it so much. And it was almost like playing those songs dispelled the dark clouds,” Lee shared.
