Rosie O’Donnell responds to Donald Trump’s threat to revoke US citizenship

Rosie O’Donnell has responded to President Donald Trump’s threat to revoke her US citizenship. While she dismissed the president’s claims on a personal level, O’Donnell issued a warning of the further risk his rhetoric poses to society.

Over the weekend, Trump posted on his Truth Social platform hitting out at O’Donnell, saying: “Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship.”

He added: “She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her.” O’Donnell moved to Ireland last year due to Trump winning a second term in the presidential election.

The actor then responded to the president, first on Instagram, where she said: “You are everything that is wrong with America,” adding, “You want to revoke my citizenship? Go ahead and try, King Joffrey with a tangerine spray tan, I’m not yours to silence, I never was,” referencing the evil character in the fantasy series Game of Thrones and posting a photo of Trump and Jeffery Epstein.

The former talk show host then went on to expand on her response in an interview with Irish broadcaster RTE: “I didn’t take it personally, but I will tell you the way that he is has emboldened people like him,” noting that she is only one of many artists and celebrities whom Trump has taken fire at over the course of recent months.

O’Donnell’s feud with the president has lasted longer than most, however, dating back almost two decades to when she was the host of the US women’s panel show The View. At the time, Trump was the rights holder to the Miss USA pageant and became involved in a scandal with one of the participating models.

Commenting on Trump’s track record of dubious romantic affairs, O’Donnell said in response to the incident in 2006: “Left the first wife, had an affair. Left the second wife, had an affair – but he’s the moral compass for 20-year-olds in America,” sparking a feud between the pair which is still ongoing nearly 20 years later.

O’Donnell moved to Ireland following Trump’s re-election.
