Roger Waters doubles down on Ozzy Osbourne comments: “I don’t like people who bite the heads off bats”

Roger Waters has said he doesn’t regret his comments on Ozzy Osbourne, which were condemned by the late singer’s family.

Shortly after the Black Sabbath singer died in July, Waters remarked during an interview with The Independent Ink, “Ozzy Osbourne, who just died, bless him in whatever that state that he was in his whole life. We’ll never know. The music, I have no idea. I couldn’t give a fuck.”

The former Pink Floyd musician also said in the same interview, “I don’t care about Black Sabbath, I never did. I have no interest in biting the heads of chickens or whatever they do. I couldn’t care less, you know.”

In response, Jack Osbourne took to social media to call him “pathetic and out of touch”, as well as revealing, “My father always thought you were a c*nt”.

Additionally, Sharon Osbourne appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored in December. She described him as a “very bitter” individual, as well as saying she considered sending poo to him in the post before deciding “even that is a waste, to send shit to him”.

Now, Waters has appeared on the same platform and addressed the controversy for the first time.

“Those comments, I’m not denying that I said them, came in the middle of a long interview,” Waters explained to Morgan, before adding, “Do I have to like every rock group there ever was in the world or people who bite the heads off bats?”

Morgan then showed Waters, despite him saying that he’s “not interested” in watching the video, a clip of Sharon on his show in December, condemning the Pink Floyd musician.

In the clip, Sharon says in response to Waters’ prior remarks, “He’s really insignificant, but I just thought, with anybody that passes (who) has a family, you don’t do that.”

Upon being asked to apologise, Waters said, “Of course, I will”, before outlining his dislike for Sharon, adding, “Not that I have any time for Sharon Osbourne, she’s a raging Zionist”. He then stated that “she’s accused me of all kinds of things,” which he claimed was because she’s “part of the Israeli lobby” and wants to “silence” him.

He later attempted to clarify his original comments, stating, “I was honest, I said I didn’t like Black Sabbath. I’ve listened to some of it since, and the music is perfectly kind of acceptable; it was all the kind of histrionics. I don’t like people who bite the heads off bats. I just don’t, I think it’s disgusting.”

Waters continued, “I know he’s dead, and can’t go, ‘Sorry, I bit the heads off bats’. If he did, who knows if he did or not.”

When pushed on whether he regrets his original comments by Morgan, Waters responded, “I regret nothing in life, accept that I haven’t been more successful in getting people to understand that we as a human race recognise and empathise with all of our brothers and sisters all over the world and make certain that they have equal human rights one with another under international law.”
