Rod Stewart cancels further US shows ahead of Glastonbury due to health reasons
Rod Stewart has pulled out of a further six live performances in the US on doctor’s orders, having previously cancelled two shows as part of his Las Vegas residency on June 2nd and June 5th as he recovers from a bout of flu.
These announcements come just weeks before Stewart is scheduled to take to the stage at Glastonbury Festival on June 29th, as part of the festival’s Sunday afternoon legends slot. Stewart last performed at Worthy Farm in Somerset 23 years ago, when he headlined the festival alongside Coldplay and Stereophonics.
In a post to Instagram, the 80-year-old singer confirmed that he was having to cancel four shows and reschedule a further two amid health concerns. “So sorry my friends,” the post read. “I’m devastated and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans. I’ll be back on stage and will see you soon.”
The cancelled shows include three further dates of his Las Vegas residency on June 7th, 8th and 10th, and another appearance in Stateline, Nevada’s Caesar’s Republic venue on June 14th. His shows in California on June 12th and June 15th have been moved back to September 20th and 21st respectively.
No announcements have yet been made on whether his Glastonbury Festival appearance will still go ahead as planned, with the last of his rescheduled dates coming only a fortnight before his return to the UK’s biggest festival.
He has previously stated that he will be retiring from large-scale tours at the end of 2025, and will shift his focus towards playing in smaller venues around the world. Following Glastonbury, he is scheduled to return to North America to tour throughout July and August.
Stewart’s last major public performance took place on May 26th, when he was presented with a lifetime achievement award by his family at the American Music Awards in Las Vegas, performing a rendition of ‘Forever Young’ at the ceremony.
