Glastonbury 2025: Rod Stewart confirmed to perform at festival
The first official act for Glastonbury 2025 has been confirmed. In a social media post on November 26th, the festival announced that Rod Stewart would take to the Pyramid Stage in 2025.
The news comes just over a week after tickets for Glastonbury sold out. After going on sale at 9am on November 17th, tickets for the festival had gone by 9:35am. It was a historical moment for the festival, as it marked the 8th consecutive time that tickets for the event had sold out in less than an hour.
In a social media post, Glastonbury announced that Rod Stewart would be playing the festival’s legendary slot. “We’re excited to announce that @SirRodStewart will play the Sunday teatime legend slot at #Glastonbury 2025,” they wrote.
Rod Stewart also took to social media to share the news that he would be playing at the festival and confirm his excitement. “I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I’ll be playing @glastofest 2025!,” he wrote, “After all these years, I’m proud and ready and more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June. I’ll see you there!”
The legend slot is a privileged time to play for many artists, and these performances often draw in bigger crowds than some of the headliners. Previous legend slot performers include the likes of Dolly Parton, Kylie Minogue and Dame Shirley Bassey. In 2024, Shania Twain performed, delivering classics such as ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’ and ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman’.
Glastonbury made attempts this year to ensure that the process for buying tickets ran smoother, given that in previous years, the compulsory registration and ticket system failed for many users. This year, a new ticketing system was introduced that allowed people to queue for tickets virtually. This seemed to work some, but many people left complaining, stating they were staring at loading screens for hours and were told that their registration numbers were invalid whenever they attempted to use them.
It hasn’t been announced how many tickets were sold for the festival this year; however, Glastonbury usually has an attendance of around 210,000 people.
There remains much speculation about who might perform at the festival in 2025. Some of the frontrunners include Sam Fender, Olivia Rodrigo, and Stevie Wonder; however, this is all speculation.
More information on Glastonbury 2025 will soon follow.
