Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2026: Oasis and Phil Collins among nominees
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has confirmed its list of nominees for the class of 2026.
To be eligible for nomination, an artist must have released their first single or album 25 years ago, which rules out any act that wasn’t active prior to 2001.
The full list of nominees is as follows: Phil Collins, Lauryn Hill, Mariah Carey, Oasis, Pink, the Black Crowes, Jeff Buckley, Melissa Etheridge, Billy Idol, INXS, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, New Edition, Sade, Shakira, Luther Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan.
Notably, ten of the 17 artists nominated have never been shortlisted before, including the likes of Phil Collins, Jeff Buckley, Shakira, INXS and Pink, despite all of those names being eligible for nomination in previous years.
The class of 2026 will be confirmed in April, along with the acts that will receive the ‘Musical Influence Award’, the ‘Musical Excellence Award’, and the ‘Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award’.
The voting is decided by a body of 1,200 members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as well as a fan-voted poll.
John Sykes, chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation said in regards to the 2026 nominees, “This diverse list of talented nominees recognises the ever-evolving faces and sounds of Rock & Roll and its continued impact on youth culture.”
Sykes added, “Induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is music’s highest honour and we look forward to celebrating the Class of 2026 this fall.”
Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has been vocal in his disdain for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as an institution in the past.
After his band were first nominated in 2024, Gallagher said, “As much as I love Mariah Carey and all that, I want to say: do me a favour and fuck off,” before adding that he has “done more for rock ‘n’ roll than half of them clowns”.
Additionally, earlier this week, he responded on X to a fan who had attended the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum and took an image of a fan-voted poll that had Oasis in 19th position to be a future inductee, replying, “State of that list embarrassing“.
