Liam Gallagher hits out at “embarrassing” fan-voted poll at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum
Liam Gallagher has aired his thoughts on a fan-voted poll of possible future Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees.
The Oasis frontman was responding to a post on X, which depicted the current fan standings for the potential nominees of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, to be announced through official channels later this year.
The image reportedly came from a screen inside the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum. This is not an official list; rather, each visitor of the museum gets one vote for their favourite eligible artist or band, and a leaderboard displays the current top fan choices, which is refreshed weekly.
In the image, Linkin Park leads with 825 votes of 30,067 total votes, while Iron Maiden, Pink, Alice in Chains, and Weird Al Yankovic round out the top five.
From there follows Styx, Weezer, Motley Crue, Boston, Blink-182, Phish, Snoop Dogg, Tool, Jethro Tull, Coldplay, Meat Loaf, Phil Collins (solo), and Smashing Pumpkins.
Of the list of 20 potential names, Oasis comes in at 19th. The British icons had accrued only 269 votes so far, at the time of the image being taken. Reo Speedwagon follows behind with 254 votes.
Gallagher replied to the image, writing on X, “State of that list embarrassing.”
Another X user inquired in the same thread as to how one might vote in the ballot, and Gallagher responded again: “Obv BLINDFOLDED by the looks of it.”
These comments add to a long list of Gallagher’s criticisms towards the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; though Oasis were nominated in 2025, the singer-songwriter wrote online that the institution was for “wankers.”
In 2024, when Oasis were also nominated, he wrote, “Fuck the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame it’s full of BUMBACLARTS LG.”
The official nominees for this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will be announced on March 2nd; from there, the voting will open for a panel of 1,200 musicians, historians, and music industry professionals. Fans also have the chance to vote for their favourites online.
