‘Reservoir Dogs’ actor Michael Madsen arrested over domestic violence
Actor Michael Madsen, the star of films such as Kill Bill and Reservoir Dogs, was arrested in Malibu on August 17th over charges of domestic violence. The arrest allegedly came following “a disagreement between” the actor and his wife, DeAnna Madsen.
In the early hours of August 17th, police from the Lost Hill Sheriff Station in Malibu received a call regarding a disturbance at the Madsen residence. Upon responding, they arrested the 66-year-old actor for a domestic battery misdemeanour and charged him under Penal Code 243(e)(1). This charge refers to when allegedly force or violence is used against a cohabitant.
Madsen was taken to the station at 1:40am. A spokesperson for the actor has since confirmed that the Reservoir Dogs actor was arrested but is no longer in custody after posting a bond of $20,000.
The spokesperson claimed, “It was a disagreement between Michael and his wife, which we hope resolves positively for them both.”
The actor was previously arrested in 2022 for trespassing in Malibu after the police received a call from a local property owner who wanted to press charges against Madsen. After a short stay in custody, he was handed a $500 citation for the misdemeanour.
He has starred in a number of well-known movies throughout his career, but is most notable for his regular appearances in Quentin Tarantino films. The actor was first brought to the public’s attention following his appearance in Reservoir Dogs.
Madsen has also appeared in Kill Bill Vol 1 and Vol 2, as well as The Hateful Eight and Tarantino’s most recent offering, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.
Earlier this year, Tarantino shelved plans for his upcoming project, The Movie Critic. The film was supposed to be his last offering as a director, but he decided it wasn’t strong enough and immediately shut down any further work on the production.
It’s unlikely that Madsen would have appeared in the movie considering he has fallen out of contemporary Hollywood. While he’s continued to work, these have largely been in minor independent movies rather than mainstream productions.
Shortly before his arrest for trespassing in 2022, Madsen’s son, Hudson Lee Madsen, tragically passed away aged 26. In a statement, the Madsen family said following his death: “We are heartbroken and overwhelmed with grief and pain at the loss of Hudson. His memory and light will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. We ask for privacy and respect during this difficult time.”
