Reading and Leeds 2024: Watch Blink-182 perform ‘All The Small Things’

During the first evening of Reading Festival, Blink-182 took to the stage for a headline set and brought out all the hits, including ‘All The Small Things’, for their return to Richfield Avenue.

Blink-182 have a storied history with the iconic festival, making their debut appearance in 1997 on the Vans Warped Stage in a mid-afternoon slot before working their way up the ladder. The pop-punk trio returned to the same tent in 1999 before exploding into the mainstream ahead of their next appearance on the Main Stage the following year.

The group, consisting of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker, are seasoned headliners of Reading Festival, having first topped the bill in 2010 before returning in 2014.

Since Blink-182’s last performance at Reading a decade ago, there has been a great deal of change to the band, who have come back stronger. Notably, DeLonge left the group in 2015, and his relationship with Barker and Hoppus was over. However, when Hoppus was diagnosed with cancer, it put everything into perspective and brought the three members close once again, leading to DeLonge rejoining Blink-182 in 2022

Over the last two years, Blink-182 have been enjoying the ride, which began with a surprise set at Coachella in 2023 that drew one of the weekend’s biggest crowds despite being placed on a minor stage. They then returned the following weekend to headline the Main Stage following Frank Ocean pulling out of the event.

They’ve also released the new album, One More Time, and while cuts from the record were featured during their set at Reading Festival, it was the old favourites like ‘All The Small Things’, ‘What’s My Age Again’, and ‘Adam’s Song’ that send the crowd into hysteria.

Despite being a band who helped define a past era with their most successful album, Enema of the State, arriving in 1999, which is before most of the crowd at Reading Festival were even born, Blink-182’s anthems continue to connect with the youth, even if they are no longer young themselves.

Elsewhere on the first day of Reading Festival on August 23rd, audiences were treated to performances from Scottish singer-songwriter Gerry Cinnamon who sent the crowd into euphoria with his catalogue of singalong hits such as ‘Canter’, ‘Belter’, and ‘Sometimes’. Other acts who graced the Main Stage include Two Door Cinema Club, Kneecap and Spiritbox.

Reading Festival is set to continue on August 24th with UK exclusive headline sets from Lana Del Rey and Fred Again. Furthermore, fresh off the back of releasing their fourth album, Romance, on August 23rd, Fontaines D.C. will also make their bid to be a future headliner.
