Radiohead perform live for the first time in seven years: The full setlist in Madrid
After seven years away, Radiohead returned at the Movistar Arena in Madrid on November 4th.
In total, the iconic rock band will play four shows in Madrid, before moving on for four concerts at the Unipol Arena in Bologna, as well as sets of four dates at The O2 in London, the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, and the Uber Eats Arena in Berlin.
For their first show back, Radiohead performed in the round as they will do for the rest of their comeback tour.
They began their set with ‘Let Down’, which became the band’s first song in almost 20 years to enter the Billboard Hot 100 in August after it unexpectedly went viral on TikTok and the 1997 track found a whole new audience.
Other notable songs on their set include ‘Sit Down. Stand Up’ from Hail to the Thief, which they hadn’t played live since 2003.
Their 25-song set saw Radiohead reflect on their career to date, visiting the OK Computer chapter for cuts such as ‘No Surprises’, ‘Subterranean Homesick Alien’, ‘Paranoid Android’, and Karma Police’. They also played a number of songs from Kid A, Amnesiac, Hail to the Thief, and In Rainbows.
However, they only elected to play ‘Bloom’ from The King of Limbs, and ‘Ful Stop’ and ‘Daydreaming’ from A Moon Shaped Pool. The set was brought to a close with The Bends classic ‘Fake Plastic Trees’.
Prior to the tour, Radiohead confirmed they would be altering their set throughout the run of shows, therefore, fans attending shows should expect change.
During an appearance on the Adam Buxton Podcast in September, Colin Greenwood shared, “Oh, I think it’s going to be a mix set. I think we’ve like whittled it down to about 70 songs. And me and my brother are not on the setlist committee, we’re not allowed, because we’re too indecisive.”
The bassist continued, “So we’ll play anything in any order, at any time. We sort of take a busking attitude to the Radiohead setlist.”
Meanwhile, in a recent interview with The Times, Thom Yorke explained the reason why they are planning to take this approach, admitting, “We have too many songs.”
