Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker to host one-off BBC 6 Music festive show

Jarvis Cocker will be bringing his beloved British drawl to the BBC 6 Music airwaves on a one-off festive special.

The iconic frontman will sit in for Iggy Pop, taking over his Solstice Service show between 4 pm and 6 pm on December 21st.

Cocker is familiar with this type of work; he previously presented Jarvis Cocker’s Sunday Service on 6 Music between 2010 and 2017. On that show, he provided fans with a weekly dose of his favourite music.

As per NME, the singer-songwriter explained, “It’s an honour to sit in on Iggy’s show on December 21st: the darkest day of the year.”

He added, “But I will be bringing some light with this special, one-off edition of Jarvis Cocker’s Solstice Service. Be of good cheer!”

Cocker also partook in some important audio recording earlier this year. Only two days before Pulp’s legendary secret set at Glastonbury Festival, frontman Jarvis Cocker recorded his very own Shipping Forecast to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the broadcast.

Elsewhere in the world of Pulp, the band are enjoying a huge comeback, having recently pulled off a magnificent NPR Tiny Desk concert.

Additionally, they have just been announced as a headliner for the End of the Road festival, alongside CMAT and Mac DeMarco. Next year will mark the 20th anniversary of End of the Road, which they will bring out all of the stops to celebrate.

Before this, the band confirmed news of a one-off outdoor show at Wythenshawe Park in Manchester on August 28th, 2026, which they said “is likely to be our only major UK headline concert” of the calendar year.

In a glowing four-and-a-half star review of their latest album More, Far Out wrote, “The band already had a legacy secured, but with More, they’ve added another shiny jewel to it, not just used everything that came before and tagged on a weak charm. This is another great Pulp album. It is not a comeback or a lazy return; it is simply More greatness. “
