The estate of Prince has released yet more previously unheard material from The Purple One.
While a stream of rare recordings have been released in recent weeks, Prince’s estate has already made it common knowledge that an extending reissue of The new Sign O’ The Times is on the way.
“The new Sign O’ The Timesexpanded reissue will be available September 25 via all physical, digital and streaming partners, with the classic album remastered for the first time,” Prince’s estate previously said. “The Super Deluxe edition features 63 previously unreleased tracks and a 2+ hour concert video.”
Now, as the estate continues to ramp up excitement around the expanded release, they have shared ‘Witness 4 the Prosecution (Version 2)’ a recording taken from 1986 session at Los Angeles’ Sunset Sound studio. A press release explains that Prince reworked the song after a request was made by Deborah Allen, who asked him to write a song for her.
Prince switches things up on this version, deciding to play every instrument used by himself barring the contribution of Eric Leeds and Atlanta Bliss who are on the sax and trumpet.
