Primavera 2026: Oklou calls for “better working conditions” after “chaotic” weather issues

French singer, producer, and composer Oklou has called out Primavera festival after her team returned “unfed and soaking wet” following chaos on the first full day of the Barcelona festival.

The opening day of the celebration was all but rained off after severe downpours and strong winds in the city led to the majority of the night’s headline performances being cancelled.

Sets from Alex G and Mac DeMarco were among the first of the day to face cancellation; however, Oklou’s appearance on the Schwarzkopf stage took place earlier in the day. Despite the downpour, it was able to go ahead.

Sharing footage of her show on her Instagram story, Oklou began with the positives, writing, “Yesterday was the biggest crowd I have ever played to with the shittiest weather. Thank you so much for standing there in the rain.”

She added optimistically, “I want to do this again asap barcelona keeps offering me very special shows each time.”

However, in a follow-up post, the ‘Blade Bird’ singer had a more solemn approach to the evening, writing, “Kuddos to my team, it’s been a hard day of work.”

She then explained, “I hope that the festival can offer better working conditions in the future, cause half of the team came back to the bus unfed and soaking wet cause of the very chaotic shuffle system and after hours of hard work – could have been avoided!”

Oklou isn’t the only one turning a critical eye towards the festival, after Massive Attack released a statement sharing their “frustration” that led to the cancellation of their headline set.

Since the unfortunate start, festival organisers shared a statement which read, in part, “We understand and share the frustration and disappointment of the audience regarding this situation, which is not what we had hoped for on the first day of Primavera Sound Barcelona 2026″.

The festival will soon share details of refunds for attendees with day tickets for Thursday; however, they are not currently offering partial refunds for fans with weekend passes.

Primavera is set to continue throughout the weekend, welcoming performers like PinkPantheress, Addison Rae, The Cure, and Skrillex on June 5th, and Gorillaz and My Bloody Valentine on the closing night.
