Pixies release cinematic video for their new single ‘Hear Me Out’
Pixies have released their ambitious new music video, adding a cinematic edge to their latest single ‘Hear Me Out’.
The song, which will be released as a 12-inch single on October 12, will be shared alongside a cover of T. Rex song ‘Mambo Sun’ as the B-side. The track, which was written by Paz Lenchantin who currently holds down the role of former member Kim Deal, took a lead in the creativity around the material and she also produced and stars in the new video.
The video, which was directed by Maximilla Lukacs, was filmed in Taos, New Mexico, during the pandemic and also features Henry Hopper. “‘Hear Me Out’ is about things not turning out the way we hoped, but knowing that it’s going to be ok regardless,” Lenchantin said in a statement.
“Black started the melody phrases on an old organ. I loved it right away, so he asked me to take a pass at the lyrics. The song has an evocative melody that inspired the lyrics to come out straight away.”
Joey Santiago, guitarist of the band, added: “Paz sounds like she’s talking to a guy with deaf ears. I did a western style riff at the end of verses, which was like giving her a gun so the dude would pay attention.”
