The first look at Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge in Indiana Jones 5, her largest role to date, has finally been revealed.
Currently filming in Glasgow, the role will see Waller-Bridge star alongside the iconic Harrison Ford in a yet unknown role, though the latest behind-the-scenes photo as her in a vintage jacket and jeans suggests that she likely isn’t the antagonist.
Filming on the latest instalment of the franchise is currently on hold following an injury Harrison Ford sustained to his shoulder whilst on set. A Disney spokesperson said in a statement at the time, “In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder”.
Adding: “Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated. The filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks.”
Joining the cast in April, Waller-Bridge’s addition to the team has got fans around the world excited to see the Fleabag star in a more action-centred role, with even James Mangold expressing his joy. “I’m thrilled to be starting a new adventure, collaborating with a dream team of all-time great filmmakers…When you add Phoebe, a dazzling actor, brilliant creative voice and the chemistry she will undoubtedly bring to our set, I can’t help but feel as lucky as Indiana Jones himself,” the director commented.
Soon after Waller-Bridge was announced as coming onto the project, Another Round actor Mads Mikkelsen was also confirmed to be joining the cast.
The “fifth and final” film in the classic series according to the president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, Indiana Jones 5 is set for release on July 29, 2022.
