Phoebe Bridgers has covered Bright Eyes‘ 2005 gem ‘First Day Of My Life’.

Bridgers, of course, created Better Oblivion Community Center with Bright Eyes frontman Conor Oberst in 2018 and she has now chosen to cover the track during her set as part of Deezer’s Home Sessions.

The song originally featured on Bright Eyes’ 2005 album I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning and Bridgers does Oberst and co.’s version justice with her re-working of the track.

Bright Eyes recently announced their return after nine years and have released the excellent ‘Persona Non-Grata’, ‘Forced Convalescence’ and ‘One and Done’ as we eagerly await more details about their full-length album which was recorded before lockdown.

Bridgers also has new material of her own on the horizon, with her second solo record Punisher set to be released through Dead Oceans on June 19th 2020, which arrives as the eagerly anticipated follow up Stranger In The Alps which allowed Bridgers to break onto the scene in 2017.

The indie-folk hero recently released her latest single ‘I See You’ which is taken from the album and disclosed this about the track: “It’s about my breakup with my drummer,” says Bridgers of ‘I See You’. “We dated for a few years, made music every day, and were extremely codependent.

“We became like family to each other, so our breakup was extremely tough. But if this tells you anything about our relationship, we wrote this song together, just like everything else.”
