‘Peaky Blinders’ creator Steven Knight confirmed to write new ‘James Bond’ movie
Amazon MGM Studios have confirmed Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight will write the new James Bond movie.
Amazon said in a short statement on July 31st: “Today, Amazon MGM Studios announced that Steven Knight will write the script for the studio’s upcoming James Bond film. Denis Villeneuve is directing the film, with Amy Pascal and David Heyman producing via Pascal Pictures and Heyday Films, respectively. Tanya Lapointe will executive produce.”
In addition to creating Peaky Blinders, Knight is also responsible for the hit series’ Taboo, See, SAS Rogue Heroes, A Thousand Blows, This Town, The Veil and All the Light We Cannot See.
His upcoming projects include a Peaky Blinders movie for Netflix and the upcoming historical drama series House of Guinness, which is also for the streaming giant. Additionally, Knight is producing a film on the ongoing triumphant Oasis reunion tour.
The latest development comes after Villeneuve was confirmed to helm the next James Bond movie. Following the announcement, the director said, “Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr. No with Sean Connery. I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory.”
Villeneuve continued: “I intend to honour the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honour.”
Currently, no actor is attached to the lead role in the forthcoming movie. Earlier this week, Taron Egerton played down speculating him to 007, stating, “I think I wouldn’t be good at it, and I think there’s so many cool, younger actors who would be great for it. I think it would be wasted on me, probably.”
More information on the new James Bond movie is expected to arrive in the near future.
