
Paul Weller and Matt Berninger to play Royal Albert Hall for Streets of London fundraiser
Paul Weller and Matt Berninger have been confirmed to play a fundraising concert in aid of helping the homeless at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
The concert is set to take place on December 10th at the iconic London venue in celebration of the Streets of London’s Starry Night charity fundraiser, raising money to enable life-changing support for people who are homeless in the capital.
In addition to the bill boasting Weller and Berninger, Bastille, Glen Hansard, and Nectar Woode will also take to the stage with more special guests to be announced ahead of the event.
Last year, the Starry Night charity fundraiser raised over £200,000 thanks to performances from Bastille, Freya Ridings, Jake Bugg, Passenger, James Bay, Birdy and more.
The National frontman Berninger said of his involvement in this year’s event, “I am proud to support Streets of London’s vital efforts to help the city’s homeless population and look forward to performing at the legendary Royal Albert Hall.”
Additionally, Ian Steuart Fothringham, director of Streets of London, said: “We’re really grateful that such an amazing line-up of artists has generously agreed to play at our Christmas fundraising show, to help people experiencing homelessness.”
Fothringham then explained the vital reason why events like these by Streets of London is desperately needed, sharing, “Rough sleeping in London continues to be at record levels. It’s up again 10% in the last year and is now at five times the level it was twenty years ago. The money raised from this event will have a direct and significant impact helping people who are street homeless, funding multiple projects that offer life-changing support.”
Tickets are set to go on pre-sale on October 22nd at 10am before general sale at 10am on October 24th.
