Banned on the Run: Paul McCartney temporarily banned from Reddit

Paul McCartney‘s official Reddit account was handed a temporary ban over the weekend.

After performing the first of two sold-out shows at the Fonda Theater on March 27th and March 28th, McCartney reactivated his Reddit account to post images from the event in his Subreddit.

On March 28th, after the first show, the account, with the handle PaulMcCartney, wrote in the forum, “Hope you enjoyed the show last night. As last night was a phone-free experience we wanted to make sure you had some memories from the show to share with friends, family and loved ones.”

The account then shared a Dropbox link, allowing fans to access a range of photographs that he encouraged them to share on social media along with the hashtag, PaulRocksTheFonda.

However, Reddit had other ideas with the post being taken down, and McCartney’s account was also unavailable to view before later being restored. However, his post on the Subreddit still remains removed from the site.

The account was previously used by McCartney in 2020 to participate in an AMA session with fans to promote McCartney III, but has been dormant since then.

His shows at the Fonda saw some of the biggest names in the world of music come out to watch him, including his Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr, Stevie Nicks, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and John Mayer.

Per Setlist FM, McCartney played career-spanning sets on both nights, featuring Beatles favourites like ‘Hey Jude’ and ‘Let It Be’, as well as classics from both his solo career and catalogue with Wings.

However, McCartney did not preview material from his new album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, set for release on May 29th.

Last week, he shared the lead single, ‘Days We Left Behind’, which finds him reminiscing upon his youth in Liverpool, singing, See the boys of dungeon lane, along the Mersey shore, some of them will feel the pain, but some were meant for more, and nothing stays the same, no one needs to cry, nothing can reclaim, the days we left behind.”
