Paul McCartney novel ‘High In The Clouds’ to be adapted by Netflix
It has been confirmed that Netflix will release an animated film of Paul McCartney’s 2005 novel High in the Clouds.
The Beatle’s novel has been reported to be in production for a special feature since 2013, but now it seems that production for the animated film has kicked up a gear. No release date has been confirmed.
High in the Clouds is about a teenage squirrel called Wirral who finds himself “pulled into a ramshackle gang of teenage rebels who live high in the clouds after he accidentally antagonizes Gretsch the owl, the tyrannical leader (and fabulous singer!), who steals the voice of anyone who upstages her.”
In 2015, it was suggested that McCartney had written several new songs for the movie, with one even featuring Lady Gaga. At the same time, it is unclear whether the new film will include any of the reported original songs.
McCartney will reportedly co-produce the new Netflix animated adaptation of High in the Clouds with Timothy Reckart attached as a director. John Croker, of Paddington 2 fame, is writing the script.
