Paul McCartney confirmed to make ‘Saturday Night Live’ return
Paul McCartney has been confirmed as an upcoming musical guest on Saturday Night Live.
On May 2nd, Olivia Rodrigo will double-bill the show, starring as both the host of the evening and the musical guest, a feat most recently completed by Harry Styles. Rodrigo recently announced her third studio album, titled, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, to be released on June 12th.
23-year-old Rodrigo will make her hosting debut, though she has appeared as musical guest on the show alongside Keegan-Michael Key in 2021 and Adam Driver in 2023.
On May 9th, Matt Damon will be the host of the evening, while ‘Stick Season’ singer-songwriter Noah Kahan will be taking to the stage as the musical guest.
Damon is hosting SNL for the third time, after appearances in 2002 and 2018. Following in his own shoes might be a difficult task, as his former appearance earned him an Emmy nomination. He will next star in Christopher Nolan’s new film, The Odyssey.
The season finale, to air on May 16th, will be headlined by comedian Will Ferrell as host, and supported by Paul McCartney as musical guest. Ferrell will be comfortable in front of the lights, as he was an SNL cast member from 1995 to 2002 across seven different seasons. Up next, he will star in The Hawk.
McCartney has also appeared on the beloved American show plenty of times, having performed as a musical guest in 1980, alongside Linda McCartney, as well as in 1993, 2010, and 2012, along with cameos in 2006, 2013, 2015, and on SNL50 in 2025.
Recently, the UK has received its very own Saturday Night Live, featuring an ensemble cast of quintessentially British performers, as well as a celebrity guest and a musical guest each week. So far, Wet Leg and Wolf Alice have graced the new stage.
