Paul Dano has now been confirmed to star in the upcoming new film The Batman. Performing across from Robert Pattinson as The Bat, Dano will take up role of Edward Nashton, aka Batman’s nemesis The Riddler for the 2021 film.
The man behind the new film, Matt Reeves has finally found his Riddler for The Batman. Paul Dano has been confirmed as the quizzing villain, Warner Bros. announced Thursday.
Dano will play Edward Nashton who later goes by Edward Nygma in the comic books, adopts the charismatic lunatic’s persona. Jim Carrey made the role his own in the 1995 film Batman Forever but we’re equally as excited to see Dano’s incarnation.
Reeves will be happy to have Dano on the film’s credits, with some exceptional performances under his belt he could make this role a mark of excellence on his already impressive CV. He’s even found his Catwoman with the role has been filled by Zoë Kravitz who is ready to get her claws out to tussle with Robert Pattinson as the Batman.
Though earlier today it was confirmed that Jonah Hill would no longer be apart of the project.
Matt Reeves later described his new film as a ‘noir’ Batman flick: “The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been,” he commented to The Hollywood Reporter.
He added: “I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”
The Batman has been set a June 25th, 2021 release date by Warner Bros.
