Pattie Boyd hasn’t been contacted about Beatles biopics: “Wouldn’t they let me know?”
Pattie Boyd has questioned why she hasn’t been contacted by Sam Mendes about his series of biopics on The Beatles.
The upcoming set of films will see Aimee Lou Wood, best known for her performances in The White Lotus and Daddy Issues, star as Boyd in the set of films.
Previously, when Wood was rumoured to play Boyd, but the casting decision had yet to be confirmed, she gave the actor her full support, writing on X, “Big news, indeed! I’m looking forward (hoping) to meet Aimee Lou at some point in the future.”
However, now the set of films have entered production, Boyd, who was married to George Harrison from 1966 to 1977, has shared her discontent about the lack of interaction between those telling her story on screen with her.
Speaking to Chris O’Dell on his new podcast, Boyd shared (via Consequence), “I thought it would be polite to mention it to me, or let me know if they’ve got someone who is going to be playing me.”
She added, “Wouldn’t they let me know?”
After O’Dell posited that she assumed that Boyd would be a consultant, she responded, “I could’ve told them really great stories. But I don’t think they wanted to know.”
Boyd then accused those making the film of wanting “to create something that’s completely different…a different story” which could have “nothing to do with the truth of what happened”, claiming, “Because they didn’t want to talk to anyone who was there.”
However, despite sounding frustrated about the lack of contact, Boyd insisted that the situation isn’t worth losing sleep over, stating, “I’m going to be a very good girl and not get grumpy and growly.”
Nevertheless, the way that those behind the film have handled the situation hasn’t impressed her, sharing, “People don’t have manners anymore. People don’t care, and if somebody doesn’t care, you can’t do anything about it.”
The all-star cast also features Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey, and Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono.
The set of films, despite not arriving in the next two calendar years, are currently in production and are set to be released simultaneously in April 2028.
