Pattie Boyd gives Aimee Lou Wood seal of approval to play her in The Beatles biopics

Pattie Boyd has responded to speculation that Aimee Lou Wood will play her in Sam Mendes’ upcoming biopics on The Beatles.

The cast for the upcoming four movies on the Fab Four has expanded this week. It was previously confirmed in March that Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn will portray George Harrison.

In the past few days, it has been reported that Mia McKenna-Bruce, who previously won the coveted Bafta Rising Star, is set to portray Maureen Starkey, Ringo Starr’s first wife. Additionally, acclaimed Irish actor Saoirse Ronan has also been confirmed to play Linda McCartney.

The remaining roles of Yoko Ono and Boyd, who was married to Harrison from 1966 to 1977, have been heavily linked to Anna Sawai and The White Lotus star Wood, respectively. While it isn’t believed that either actor has yet signed on the dotted line, Boyd has given Wood her seal of approval.

Boyd took to X to respond to a report that claimed Wood portray her in the upcoming films to write, “Big news, indeed! I’m looking forward (hoping) to meet Aimee Lou at some point in the future”.

Throughout this past summer, Keoghan, Mescal, Quinn, and Dickinson have been busy at Beatles bootcamp as they prepare to begin production on the set of films. Both Mescal and Keoghan have also had the opportunity to meet McCartney and Starr, respectively.

Mescal recently shared what a typical day currently looks like while preparing to transform into McCartney, revealing, “Average day is: We get up, we go out to Bobbington — which is about an hour and a quarter drive — listening to the Beatles in the car.”

The Irish actor continued, “Then we go in, and we try to walk, talk, play, think like the Beatles. Then we get in the car, listen to the Beatles, and go home.”

Mendes is set to direct a set of four biopics on the Fab Four, which will all be released in 2028. Each film will focus on a different member of the group, and has been described by Sony as “the first binge-able theatrical experience”.
