Patti Smith’s memoirs ‘Just Kids’ is being made in to a TV series

Finally something amazing on TV that us musos can get excited.. and no, ‘Empire’ does not count. The incredible memoirs of Patti Smith Just Kids is being made in to a TV series and here at Far Out Magazine cannot wait.

If you haven’t read this incredible detailing of Patti Smith’s incredible rise to fame and the central figure of her mutual love with Robert, then now’s your chance. This should be on everyone’s reading list and if it isn’t you need to ask your favourite musical friend to slap you as hard as they can.

Set amid teenage punk in 1960’s NYC and the illustrious and infamous Chelsea hotel the book (and now the series) deals with social problems and atmospheres as well as Smith’s own story. Greenlit by Showtime we do not yet have a date but do have this comment to get us salivating.

“A limited series on Showtime will allow us to explore the characters more deeply, enabling us to develop stories beyond the book and allow a measure of unorthodox presentation. The medium of a television limited series offers narrative freedom and a chance to expand upon the themes of the book.”

The new comes ahead of the announcement a follow-up memoir M-Train will soon be released
