Ozzy Osbourne rejected chance to be in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’
Sharon Osbourne has revealed that she rejected the opportunity for her husband and client, Ozzy Osbourne, to appear in Pirates of the Caribbean.
Although Sharon refrained from revealing the exact role that Osbourne was offered in the franchise, but described it as the “biggest mistake” she has made as the Black Sabbath singer’s frontman manager.
“He got offered to go and read for Pirates of the Caribbean, and I’ve never said this to anyone,” she admitted to Billy Corgan on his podcast The Magnificent Others. Sharon added: “And I said no. Now wouldn’t he have been perfect?”
Corgan agreed with Sharon’s verdict that Osbourne would have been an ideal cast member in The Pirates of the Caribbean, adding, “He would have been perfect! Maybe it’s not too late, but God bless.”
In the same episode, the duo discussed the K-pop industry with Osbourne stating: “It’s a complete factory, and they’ll chop these kids up to make them look like more Western. And, as soon as they get old, [they’re] out! A younger one comes in, and it’s just soul-destroying. Totally soul-destroying.”
Her comments came after Corgan shared his experience of seeing how the K-pop industry operates first-hand during a trip to Korea. The Smashing Pumpkins singer shared: “So they have these rooms, and literally in one room, they’ll just write choruses. They don’t try to write a song, they just write choruses. And in another room, they have kids who are really good at writing bridges. And in another room, they have kids who are really good at writing verses.”
Meanwhile, Corgan is set to appear as a special guest at Black Sabbath’s farewell show which is set to take place at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5th.
In a recent update during the latest episode of his Ozzy Speaks show on SiriusXM, Osbourne looked ahead to the show at Villa Park, stating, “I’m not planning on doing a set with Black Sabbath but I am doing little bits and pieces with them. I am doing what I can, where I feel comfortable.”
He also discussed the adjustments he has to make for day-to-day life now. “I am trying to get back on my feet,” he said, after the recent revelation that he can no longer walk as a result of his disease. The rock icon added, “When you get up in the morning, you just jump out of bed. I have to balance myself, but I’m not dead. I’m still actively doing things.”
