Ozzy Osbourne buried at Buckinghamshire mansion following private service
Ozzy Osbourne has been laid to rest at his family mansion in Buckinghamshire, England, following a private service.
The funeral took place on July 31st at the family’s home near Gerrards Cross with Osbourne being buried, as he requested, near a lake at their sprawling 250-acre property in rural England.
According to the Daily Mail, there was a huge floral tribute to the late rock legend on the banks of the lake, which read in capital letters, “OZZY FUCKING OSBOURNE”.
The publication also photographed a string of musicians, including Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, Ozzy’s longtime guitarist Zakk Wylde, Rob Zombie, and Marilyn Manson before they made their way to the service.
The Sun previously reported Elton John, Yungblud, Metallica’s James Hetfield as well as Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward were also due to attend.
On July 30th, the public paid farewell to Osbourne and came out in their thousands to support his family in Birmingham for his funeral procession. Chants of “Ozzy” broke out in the crowd before an escort of cars, containing the Osbourne family and the late singer’s hearse, travelled down Broad Street to make its way to Black Sabbath Bridge.
His widow, Sharon, was reduced to tears as fans chanted her late husband’s name before raising her hand in appreciation of the crowd and returning to the vehicle. She was supported by their son, Jack, who despite wearing sunglasses, also appeared visibly emotional.
Osbourne’s fans also raised their voices in unison to serenade his family with chants of “Thank you, Ozzy” and “Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy, Oi, Oi, Oi.”
Reflecting on the public event, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Zafar Iqbal, said: “It was incredibly emotional for me to see her and the family. They are such a loving family and you can see how loving they are.”
Iqbal continued: “It was well organised, we looked after all the fans and I think it was a fitting tribute to a legend who was a Brummie through and through. Like his final gig, he came back home and we were proud to have him.”
