Black Sabbath confirm live stream information for Ozzy Osbourne’s funeral procession
Black Sabbath have taken to social media to confirm details of Ozzy Osbourne‘s funeral procession, which will take place in Birmingham City Centre today (July 30th).
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that, ahead of a private service, his hearse will make its way through his hometown to Black Sabbath Bridge on Broad Street. The hometown celebration of his life will also feature music by local brass band Bostin’ Brass.
In the week since his death, Black Sabbath Bridge has become a shrine to Osbourne, with fans travelling from all over to pay their respects to a one-off figure by leaving messages of condolence as well as flowers. Today, for the procession, it’s expected to be packed full of mourners honouring the heavy rock pioneer.
Now, Black Sabbath have confirmed on social media that the procession in Birmingham will be able to watch at blacksabbathbridge.co.uk from 13:00 in the United Kingdom. They also shared a list of times in international locations, including 5:00 in Los Angeles, 8:00 in New York, 10:00 in Sydney, 2:00 in Rome, and 9:00 in Tokyo.
Black Sabbath Bridge was officially opened in 2019 during a ceremony attended by the band’s Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler. It has become a tourist landmark in Birmingham, which was even visited by Metallica’s James Hetfield prior to Metallica’s performance at Ozzy’s farewell show in the city earlier this month.
Following the funeral procession in Birmingham, Osbourne will be laid to rest at a private ceremony in Buckinghamshire later this afternoon, which will be attended by friends and family.
Osbourne passed away at his family home in Buckinghamshire on July 22nd. No cause of death has been revealed; however, it has been confirmed that air ambulance paramedics arrived at the scene and spent two hours trying to save his life.
In light of his death, Osbourne’s poignant comments about his funeral have resurfaced. He said in 2011: “I honestly don’t care what they play at my funeral; they can put on a medley of Justin Bieber, Susan Boyle and We Are the Diddymen if it makes ’em happy – but I do want to make sure it’s a celebration, not a mope-fest.”
Osbourne also humorously stated: “I’d also like some pranks: maybe the sound of knocking inside the coffin; or a video of me asking my doctor for a second opinion on his diagnosis of ‘death’. There’ll be no harping on the bad times. So to answer your question, yes, a bit of planning is the right thing to do for the family you leave behind.”
