Air ambulance paramedics were deployed to try to save Ozzy Osbourne’s life

Following the death of Black Sabbath frontman and heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne on July 22nd, air ambulance paramedics have confirmed they attended the scene.

The Osbourne family confirmed in a statement released on July 22nd that Ozzy had passed away. They wrote, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.”

The statement continued, “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

Since the musician’s passing, there has been an outpouring of well wishes, as fans and musicians alike recall the significant impact that Osbourne has had on their lives. His Black Sabbath bandmates shared a touching tribute to their former frontman, wishing the best for his family.

“I just can’t believe it! My dear dear friend Ozzy has passed away only weeks after our show at Villa Park,” wrote guitarist Tony Iommi, “It’s just such heartbreaking news that I can’t really find the words, there won’t ever be another like him. Geezer, Bill and myself have lost our brother. My thoughts go out to Sharon and all the Osbourne family. Rest in peace Oz.”

Osbourne’s cause of death is yet to be revealed. However, locals in Buckinghamshire have since confirmed to the Mail Online they saw an air ambulance arrive at his residence at around 10:15am on July 22nd. “We immediately feared it may be for him as he was known to be in fragile health,” an anonymous local said to the publication, “When we heard later that night that he had died it confirmed our worst fears.”

Additionally, Mail Online reported that the air ambulance managed to arrive at the property within 15 minutes of being called out.

A Thames Valley Air Ambulance representative also confirmed, “Our helicopter was dispatched to provide advanced critical care at an incident near Chalfont St Giles yesterday.”

It is reported that the paramedics spent two hours trying to save Osbourne’s life; however, they were unfortunately unsuccessful. Osbourne’s death comes just weeks after his final show with Black Sabbath at Villa Park on July 5th.

Over the last 24 hours since his passing, Osbourne’s native Birmingham has celebrated the late rock legend. Black Sabbath Bridge on Broad Street has become a shrine to the late vocalist, and Birmingham City Council has created a book of condolence, which fans can sign at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Fans have also covered the Black Sabbath mural on Navigation Street with flowers in memory of Ozzy.

His sisters have also paid tribute to Osbourne, and recalled their final meeting with him earlier this month, sharing, “It was upsetting because he could not stand up straight, but he was still our John, still cracking the jokes. To us he was our brother, not a celebrity, so it’s crazy to see the outpouring of love since his death was announced.”

No cause of death has been revealed.
