Oscars 2026: ‘Sinners’ to be honoured in live musical performance

As excitement ramps up towards the Oscars, it has been revealed that Sinners is one of the films set to be honoured with a musical performance on the night.

The film’s breakout star, Miles Caton, will join Raphael Saadiq to perform the song ‘I Lied to You’ from the record-breaking movie, which is nominated in the ‘Best Original Song’ category.

The pair will then be joined by a range of artists, including Buddy Guy, Brittany Howard, and Shaboozey, to pay “homage to the film’s singular visual style,” according to organisers of the ceremony.

Oscars showrunner Raj Kapoor and executive producer Katy Mullan revealed the performers on March 10th ahead of the awards on March 15th, with Huntr/X also set to give a live rendition of ‘Golden’ from KPop Demon Hunters, as fellow ‘Best Original Song’ nominees.

“This year, our music performances are inspired by two of the most powerful cultural phenomena in film: Sinners, the most nominated film in Oscars history, and KPop Demon Hunters, a global pop culture sensation,” the organisers said in a statement.

They added: “These show moments are more than just performances—they expand into cinematic tributes that celebrate the relationship between music and storytelling and why these films resonated so deeply with audiences around the world.”

The Huntr/X performance is said to combine elements of Korean singing and dancing with the viral hit song, while the Sinners showcase will explore how music contributes to the narrative of the film.

The course of the night is steadily shaping up, with further performances also set to come from Josh Groban and The Los Angeles Master Chorale. The ‘In Memoriam’ section of the show will also feature a tribute to Rob Reiner, with When Harry Met Sally stars Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan reuniting for the occasion.

The Oscars is set to take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 15th, being hosted for the second time by comedian and talk show star Conan O’Brien.
