Oscars 2025: Ben Stiller and Selena Gomez among new presenters announced
Selena Gomez and Ben Stiller are among the new presenters announced for the 97th edition of the Oscars, which will take place on March 2nd.
Earlier this month, the first batch of presenters for the upcoming Academy Awards was revealed, including Halle Berry, Penélope Cruz, Robert Downey Jr., Elle Fanning, Whoopi Goldberg, Scarlett Johansson, John Lithgow, Cillian Murphy, Amy Poehler, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, June Squibb, Emma Stone, and Bowen Yang.
Now, Joe Alwyn, Sterling K. Brown, Willem Dafoe, Ana de Armas, Lily-Rose Depp, Selena Gomez, Goldie Hawn, Connie Nielsen, Ben Stiller and Oprah Winfrey have been added to the list of names who will be tasked with handing out Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on March 2nd.
Additionally, Nick Offerman will serve as the announcer during the ceremony. Meanwhile, Conan O’Brien is set to host the Oscars for the first time, taking over from Jimmy Kimmel who oversaw the ceremony during the past two years.
When the nominations were revealed in January, Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez created Oscars history by becoming the most non-English language film with 13 nods.
Emilia Pérez is nominated across all of the major categories, including ‘Best Picture’, and ‘Directing’. Star Karla Sofía Gascon, who is currently at the centre of controversy after historic racist social media posts were unearthed, is nominated for ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’. Zoe Saldaña is also shortlisted for ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role’ after recently winning this same award at the Baftas.
The Brutalist is trailing shortly behind with ten nominations, including all of the major categories. Brady Corbet is nominated for ‘Directing’, Felicity Jones is up for ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role’, Guy Pearce is nominated for ‘Best Actor in a Supporting Role’, and Adrien Brody is looking to repeat his Bafta glory in the ‘Best Actor in a Leading Role’ category. The Brutalist is also shortlisted for ‘Best Picture’. Wicked also has ten nominations to its name.
