Olivia Rodrigo and Weezer perform set of classic covers at Lollapalooza
Olivia Rodrigo continues to build her alt-rock credibility with another high-profile collaboration, this time during her headlining set at Lollapalooza on Friday night.
Throughout the summer, Rodrigo has surprised fans by sharing the stage with legendary alternative rock artists, including David Byrne at Governors Ball and Robert Smith at Glastonbury. Her latest guest was none other than Weezer.
The surprise appearance took place near the end of Rodrigo’s Lollapalooza set. Rivers Cuomo and the rest of Weezer joined her onstage for a pair of the band’s most beloved tracks, ‘Buddy Holly‘ and ‘Say It Ain’t So.’
Like other appearances so far, Rodrigo joined in the performance, playing guitar and harmonising alongside Cuomo.
This collaboration adds another layer to Rodrigo’s evolving live persona. While she’s known for her pop hits, her love for alternative and rock music continues to shape her performances.
The Lollapalooza performance marks one of the final stops on Rodrigo’s GUTS World Tour. She’s set to wrap things up with a headlining slot at Montreal’s Osheaga Music Festival on Sunday night.
Given her recent trend, fans are eagerly speculating which alt-rock legend might be her final guest.
Meanwhile, Weezer isn’t slowing down after their Lollapalooza cameo. The band has a busy schedule ahead, with performances lined up at major festivals. Their upcoming appearances include Riot Fest in Chicago, Oceans Calling in Ocean City, Maryland, and Corona Capital in Mexico City.
