Oasis reunion rumoured to only feature Gallagher brothers
With all signs pointing to a potential reconciliation between the Gallagher brothers, rumours are now circulating that any Oasis reunion shows will not feature any other former members. This comes directly after speculation that the band has dates scheduled to reunite in 2025 and following Liam Gallagher’s headline performance at Reading and Leeds Festival.
However, a recent report from The Sun has alleged that only the two brothers are set to reunite for these upcoming events. Should the two warring siblings bury the hatchet, it’s being reported that the shows would most likely be based around Liam Gallagher joining the current lineup of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
Following the frontman’s performance in Reading and Leeds, Liam, Noel, and Oasis’ social media accounts posted a graphic alluding to a big announcement coming on August 27th, with a font reminiscent of the famous Oasis logo from the 1990s.
In addition to the post, Liam also took to Twitter, where he said that he was never all that comfortable with the word ‘former’ as one of his job titles.
Despite the brothers’ history of conflict, rumours of a potential reunion have looked promising ever since Noel appeared in an interview with John Robb. When looking back on his time in the group, Noel was highly complementary of Liam’s vocal style, saying, “It’s the delivery, the tone of his voice and the attitude. I don’t have the same attitude as him.”
Noel would go on to explain the internal chemistry that comes with both him and Liam singing together, continuing, “The voice is an instrument, and it’s the same thing with the Bee Gees. When you get two brothers singing together, it’s something unique. Back in the early 1990s, it was fucking amazing.”
Despite a Gallagher-exclusive reunion, both Noel and Liam have featured many former members of Oasis onstage with them throughout the years. During various shows on his tour with High Flying Birds, Noel has featured Gem Archer on second guitar, who had taken over for ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs in the 2000s, as well as Chris Sharrock, formerly of The La’s and Oasis’ final drummer during Dig Out Your Soul.
Liam had also had brief reunions with Bonehead on his recent solo tour. Aside from joining Liam for a handful of dates, the guitarist was also a part of the lineup when Liam released the music video for ‘Better Days’ taken from the 2023 album C’mon You Know.
At the moment, a reunion with former bassist Andy Bell does not seem to be in the picture. Months before the announcement, Bell’s group Ride had released their latest album, Interplay, and are set to take to the road starting next month.
