Oasis issue warning against counterfeit tickets for reunion tour
After tickets for the Oasis reunion tour in 2025 sold out in a matter of minutes, the band have warned fans against buying tickets from secondary websites which could be illegitimate.
On August 30th, a small portion of the tickets for the run of stadium concerts for the summer of 2025 went on sale for those who had been successful in the ballot for the pre-sale. However, the millions of others looking for a ticket to see Oasis had to opt for the general sale at 9am on August 31st, with most unsuccessful in their pursuit.
Even before the tickets went on sale, the websites for Ticketmaster, Gigs and Tours, and See Tickets crashed due to the level of demand that overwhelmed their systems.
Furthermore, tickets have already begun to appear on re-selling websites such as Viagogo at vastly inflated prices. In response, Oasis have issued a statement clarifying they have partnered with Twickets, which is a site that allows fans to sell tickets at face value, and told fans not to buy from secondary sellers.
They wrote: “Please note, Oasis Live ‘25 tickets can only be resold at face value via Ticketmaster and Twickets! Tickets appearing on other secondary ticketing sites are either counterfeit or will be cancelled by the promoters.”
At this stage, it remains to be seen how Oasis will successfully identify whether a ticket has been bought through a secondary service, but fans who choose to buy from one of those websites are potentially purchasing a fake product.
The sentiment was shared by UK Music chief executive Tom Kiehl, who also warned fans against using these websites during an appearance on the Today Show on BBC Radio, stating they were of “great concern”.
Kiehl said: “Obviously, it’s a natural tendency, if you can’t get tickets, to find alternative sources but I very much urge music music fans today, if they don’t get tickets, not to take that route.”
Due to the immense demand for tickets, Oasis may add even more dates to the tour. As it stands, they are set to play 17 stadium shows across the United Kingdom and Ireland in 2025.
The Oasis reunion tour will begin with a two-date residency at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff starting on July 4th before Oasis return home to Manchester to perform five shows at Heaton Park.
The Manchester icons are also booked to headline five dates at Wembley Stadium in London as well as host three concerts at the Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh. Additionally, the Gallagher’s will visit Ireland for a pair of concerts at Dublin’s Croke Park in August.
Oasis have maintained that their tour is the only opportunity to see them perform in Europe in 2025. However, it’s expected that they will play more shows outside of the continent which will be announced at a later date.
