Oasis fighting for number one with ‘Some Might Say’
Oasis are fighting to return to the number one spot in the charts with their classic song ‘Some Might Say’, 30 years on from its original release.
A special seven-inch vinyl reissue of the single was released on April 25th in celebration of the anniversary, which has seen the song rocket in the charts over the weekend.
It now sits at the number two position, fighting it out with TikTok smash hit ‘Ordinary’ by Alex Warren, which eyes its seventh week at the top on May 2nd.
It comes three decades after ‘Some Might Say’ was first released on April 24th, 1995, as the first single to Oasis’ iconic sophomore album What’s the Story (Morning Glory). If the song tops the charts again, it will mark the second time it has done so, as the song initially gave Noel and Liam Gallagher their first ever UK number one at the time.
The legendary Mancunian band are set on a stratospheric renaissance return in 2025, with their hotly anticipated reunion shows kicking off at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on July 4th, marking the first time they have been back together in some 16 years.
Noel Gallagher revealed on April 24th during an interview with TalkSport that rehearsals for the tour are due to commence in the coming weeks, noting that Liam was “behaving himself” and is “on tip-top form”.
On the same day, the brothers were spotted arriving separately at a working men’s club in Newington Green, London. Liam posted on X afterwards: “It was more a video kind of thing like a mini film and word on the street it was BIBLICAL I just get in n out I don’t hang around looking at the screen I’ll see it when you cats see it.”
