Nick Reiner’s lawyer withdraws from murder case
Alan Jackson, a lawyer representing Nick Reiner in his double murder case against his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, has withdrawn from the case.
Jackson is a high-powered lawyer with a history of high-profile cases, having previously represented Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein in court.
Jackson explained outside of the court on January 7th, “We feel we have no choice but to withdraw.”
He also said, “Circumstances beyond my control, but more importantly circumstances beyond Nick’s control, have made it impossible for us to continue our representation.”
However, Jackson insisted that he will not be making the reasons behind his decision public, adding, “I’m legally and ethically prohibited from explaining the reasons why.”
While addressing reporters, Jackson declared that he wholeheartedly believes that his former client is innocent, stating, “Pursuant to the law of California, Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder, print that.”

Deputy Public Defender Kimberly Greene will now represent Reiner for the foreseeable future. She met with her client on January 7th and confirmed he was “understanding there would be a change in his counsel.”
Greene also revealed she has held no conversations with the wider Reiner family, adding, “We’ve had no contact with the family. We don’t think they knew.”
The Reiner family subsequently said in a statement, “They have the utmost trust in the legal process and will not comment further on matters related to the legal proceedings.”
As a result of the change in his legal team, his arraignment has been pushed back until February 23rd, 2026.
LA County District Attorney Nathan Hochman, who is overseeing the case, maintained outside of court on January 7th, “We are fully confident that a jury will convict Nick Reiner beyond a reasonable doubt of the brutal murder of his parents – Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner.”
If found guilty, Reiner could spend his life in prison without the possibility of parole or even the death penalty.
Reiner is yet to enter a plea.
