Nick Cave has begun plotting his next album with The Bad Seeds
Nick Cave has begun the early stages of mapping out a new album with The Bad Seeds.
The last album from Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds was 2024’s Wild God, which they have toured relentlessly across the globe over the last two years.
Now, in the latest edition of his Red Hand Files newsletter, the Australian artist let slip that he, along with his bandmates, are currently exploring the follow-up to the 2024 release.
Cave began by sharing his morning routine, telling readers, “I wake around 6am from a mostly dreamless sleep, go back downstairs and eat a bowl of Grape Nuts (still). I meditate and pray – and then I read some Red Hand Files questions, which often amounts to the same thing.”
Then, “I put on a suit” and “head off to work”, which, in his case, means thrashing out ideas with the Bad Seeds.
In response to a question about the health of his bassist, Martyn Casey, who has been missing from the band’s recent tours due to health issues, Cave gleefully shared, “This morning, I am going to Islington to mess around in the studio with Marty (he’s well now), Thomas (him too), Jim (always robust), and Warren (still lovely and deranged) with the vague idea of perhaps making a new record.”
While Cave did not share any more information about a new potential album or giveaway any ideas of what it could entail, it still comes as welcome news.
That being said, it’s unlikely that they’ll have time for any sessions during the next few months due to their heavy touring schedule.
Their summer shows will begin at Malahide Castle in Dublin on June 1st, before making trips to Germany, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Austria, Greece, Italy, and Belgium later that month.
In July, the Bad Seeds will be returning to Germany, performing at NOS Alive in Portugal, as well as three shows in France, including Festival de Nîmes, before closing the month in Brighton for a huge sold-out homecoming show at Preston Park.
The final leg of Cave’s summer European tour will commence in August with visits to Croatia, Germany, Romania, Norway, and conclude at Rock En Seine in Paris on August 28th.
