Nick Cave announces exclusive “homecoming” show in Brighton
Nick Cave is to return to the UK with an exclusive “homecoming” show set to take place in Brighton next summer.
The rock singer revealed, along with his band the Bad Seeds, that he would be returning to his adopted hometown on the south-east coast of England, playing in Preston Park on July 31st, 2026.
Cave said in a statement about the gig: “I am thrilled beyond words to return to my beloved Brighton with The Bad Seeds to play Preston Park. It’s a homecoming! It’s going to be big, bad and beautiful. An epic show!!!”
It comes after the release of Cave’s latest album, Wild God, last year, which charted in the top ten in the UK and spawned a subsequent European tour. As part of this, he previously visited cities across the country, such as Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester, Cardiff, London, and Birmingham.
However, the Australian singer’s return to Brighton is special and long-awaited, as he previously lived in the area for around two decades prior to the tragic death of his teenage son Arthur in 2015, who passed away after falling from the cliffs at Ovingdean Gap. Afterwards, Cave and his family then moved to the US as “Brighton had just become too sad”.
Despite this, the English seaside resort has still maintained a tangible influence on Cave’s life and work, as he has referenced it multiple times in his lyrics, as well as recently donating his book collection to a charity shop in Hove. The press release for the concert says that fans in Brighton will be treated to a selection of hits from Wild God as well as other highlights across his 40-year career.
With the Brighton gig being described as “a 2026 UK exclusive headline show”, it seems that the Wild God tour may be wrapping up after the homecoming, before which Cave will embark on a leg in Australia and New Zealand in January and February.
Tickets for Nick Cave’s gig at Preston Park in Brighton will go on presale from September 25th, with the general sale taking place on September 26th.
