Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds announce first Australia and New Zealand tour in almost a decade

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have announced that they will embark on a new tour of Australia and New Zealand at the beginning of next year, almost a decade since their last run of gigs in the region.

Cave revealed the news via his Instagram on August 24th, explaining that the ‘Wild God’ tour would be extended into seven outdoor shows in Australia and two indoor shows in New Zealand, beginning in January 2026.

It marks the first time that the singer has performed in his native country since 2017, as he takes in dates across Australia in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Brisbane.

Speaking of his excitement for the tour, Cave said: “I can’t wait to get to Australia and New Zealand with The Bad Seeds and to bring you our epic Wild God show. It’s been a long time coming, and I’ve missed both Australia and New Zealand very much. It will be a wild and mighty joy.”

It comes after Cave recently attracted controversy, despite being one of the most vocal critics of the use of AI, for releasing a 40th anniversary video of the Bad Seeds’ classic ‘Tupelo’, which uses the software.

Even though he seemingly contradicted himself by using AI, Cave attempted to explain his stance as part of his Red Hand Files newsletter by saying: “For anyone reading these files, it will be clear that I have serious reservations about AI, particularly regarding writers using ChatGPT and other language models to do their creative work. I also have concerns about song-generating platforms that reduce music to a mere commodity, by eliminating the artistic process and its attendant struggles entirely.”

Tickets for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ Australian and New Zealand leg of the ‘Wild God’ tour go on sale on August 29th at 10am local time.
