Netflix announces Elvis Presley animated spy series

In one of the more unlikely stories you’ll hear this week, Netflix has announced that it will soon be the home of Agent King, an animated spy series based on the espionage of Mr Elvis Presley.

The upcoming Agent King follows the King of Rock and Roll as he performs to hysterical crowds during the day and yet finds time in the evening to work undercover for the good of the American people.

The show, which has official backing from Elvis’ wife, Priscilla Presley and John Eddie, who served as co-creator and executive producer, was announced on August 16th, the 42nd anniversary of Elvis’ death in 1977.

Priscilla said: “From the time Elvis was a young boy, he always dreamed of being the superhero fighting crime and saving the world. Agent King lets him do just that.”

She added: “My co-creator John Eddie and I are so excited to be working with Netflix and Sony Animation on this amazing project and getting the chance to show the world an Elvis they haven’t seen before.”

While we don’t yet have a date for when the new Netflix series will arrive on our screens, there is more Elvis news: Baz Luhrmann confirmed casting for his upcoming biopic of The King.
