Netflix announce new Quincy Jones documentary
Quincy Jones will be the subject of a new documentary, set to arrive on Netflix on September 21st. The film aims to provide deeper context into the life and career of one of the music industry’s all-time greats.
With the announcement that the documentary, perfectly titled Quincy, also came the news that his daughter Rashida Jone would be co-directing the film alongside the brilliant Alan Hicks. Hicks previously directed Keep On Keepin’ On, a film about jazz musician Clark Terry who mentored Qunicy.
The documentary comes after Quincy has delivered some of his most frank interviews. He obviously lost his will to be compliant in his older age, and with so many films produced posthumously, we can’t wait to see Quincy in full flow.
Netflix’s film epilogue summarises Quincy Jones’ extraordinary career with the following: “Over 2,900 songs recorded; over 300 albums recorded; 51 film and television scores; over 1,000 original compositions; 79 Grammy nominations; 28 Grammy Awards; one of 18 EGOT winners (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony); Thriller, the best-selling album of all time; We Are the World, the best-selling single of all time; $63 million raised for famine relief in Africa; and seven children.”
